How do I start?

Why do I have to be in Ohio?

Current licensing law requires clients to be in the state the counselor is licensed in. But that will be changing in 2024!

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance directly. However, some insurance plans may reimburse you for self-pay counseling services. If your interest in working with me is contingent upon insurance reimbursement, you will want to contact your insurance provider before starting the intake process. It is important to inquire about self-pay reimbursement rather than "out-of-network" treatment. If they offer this benefit, you will pay the full session rate at the time of the appointment and I'll provide you with the necessary documentation to attach to the claim you file with your insurance company. If approved, your insurance company will pay you back directly. Note: They may ask you for the "service code." The codes I use are the following: 90791 for the diagnostic assesment 90837 for 55-60 minute individual counseling sessions

How do you receive payment?

I use IVY Pay, a HIPAA-compliant payment service. In our first session, I'll send you a registration invitation to securely store your preferred payment method. You can enter any debit, credit, HSA, or FSA card to be automatically charged after future appointments. Since I don't have access to your card information, I will send you a secure link to update your card information if you ever want to change the card on file.

Do EMDR sessions have to be 90 minutes?

Absolutely not! While longer sessions can offer some advantages, such as reducing the number of sessions required to meet your goals, you can always opt for 60-minute EMDR sessions. We will discuss your options in your first session, and I will always support you choosing what works best for you.

Do you offer any adjusted rates for counseling?

Yes, I have a limited number of discounted rate spots on my caseload based on individual need. You can request adjusted rates when completing the new client inquiry. We'll discuss your eligibility and agree upon a rate before your first appointment. The agreement will be applicable for 10 sessions. After that, we'll review your progress and assess the need for ongoing treatment, adjusting the rate as necessary. This process repeats every 10 sessions to ensure as many clients can receive affordable access to therapy as possible due to the limited availability of discounted rate appointments in my schedule.

How often should I expect to meet with you?

The frequency of counseling sessions is flexible and depends on your specific goals and preferences. Typically, clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions and can adjust the frequency as they make progress. Some may opt for more frequent sessions, while others choose less frequent meetings for maintenance treatment. We will discuss what frequency will best serve you in reaching your goals during our first appointment.

How long should I expect to be in counseling?

The duration of counseling varies depending on the client's symptoms and goals. Those with milder concerns may reach their goals in 6-10 sessions, while those with more complex diagnoses, symptoms, or traumas may require months or even years. Treatment length is also influenced by the therapeutic approach and client motivation for change. My focus on EMDR and IFS enables quicker and more effective results. During our first session, we'll discuss your specific goals and develop a tailored treatment plan.

Do you have a waitlist?

Yes. If we're unable to accommodate new clients, those who indicated interest in the waitlist on the new client inquiry form will automatically be added to the waitlist. When an opening becomes available, we'll contact individuals in the order they were added. To ensure timely communication, please keep your contact information current and respond within 24 hours to confirm or decline the opportunity to start counseling. If we don't receive a response within 24 hours, we will assume you're no longer interested and remove you from the list. However, if you reach out within a week, we'll reinstate your spot on the waitlist. This process applies to adjusted rate slots as they become available as well.
